Machakos governor, Dr. Alfred Mutua, on Thursday asked other counties to sign a partnership with other counties in order to enhance cohesion in the country.
Dr. Alfred Mutua was speaking from Nyeri where he had to meet his counterpart Nyeri governor, Mutahi Kahiga.
The two governors have today signed an agreement which will basically see Nyeri and Machakos counties adopt a code of conduct for the county staff.
According to Dr. Mutua, such partnership is important as it shows how much other Kenyans can come together and live in harmony.
"This partnership between Machakos and Nyeri is a very important one. It just shows how much we Kenyans can come together and live together in a friendly, lovely and cooperatively in order to serve the citizens," said governor Mutua.
The governor claimed that politics especially politics of tribe and hate is the root cause of the division seen in the country.
However, he concluded by saying that it is important for Kenyans to live together as this will help the country move forward.
"The only problem in our country is politics of tribe and hate. We know Nyeri loves us and we love you too. We promise to cooperate and work together just to show other Kenyans that it is possible that we can live together as sisters and brothers. This will help the country move forward," said governor Mutua.
