Machakos Governor

Alfred Mutua has asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries

Commission (IEBC) to come up with measures to bar candidates who

preach hate and incite violence ahead of the August 8 elections.

Speaking in Kiirua Market in Meru, Mutua said his party will head to Supreme Court and obtain a Red Card ruling that automatically locks out political leaders who are diving the nation from being on the ballot if IEBC fails to do so. “We cannot accept that violence is a way of life in every election in Kenya,” Mutua said. The Meru gubernatorial aspirant on the Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) ticket said the party is aimed at changing people’s lives and not politicians.“Maendeleo Chap Chap is a party of harmony and peace,” Dr Kilemi said.“We only talk about our policies to change lives and not about other leaders,” he added

Mutua addressed members of the public in every constituency he visited during his three-day tour in the county and said Kenya should emulate the United States that recently experienced a heated election between President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and never had a scenario of violence.“Some leaders want power and they will do whatever it takes, include leading to deaths, in their quest,” Mutua said.“We have to stop these greedy and evil people because Kenyans want peace and harmony,” he added.
