The Electoral Independent and Boundaries Commission has said that the country will have all elections papers by August 3.
According to the agency, nine cargo planes will deliver ballot papers into the country every two days in readiness for the August 8 polls.
IEBC executive director Ezra Chiloba said the planes have been landing at JKIA with the materials since the first batch of deliveries was made on Tuesday.
Chiloba, who spoke on a live interview on TV, further highlighted the commission’s commitment to deliver a credible election.
He said, “As we speak, we have received a batch of deliveries for the Senate position for 30 counties and 28 for woman representatives,”
On Thursday, the Court of Appeal handed the IEBC victory and dealt the opposition a double blow after it reversed an earlier order that had stopped the printing of presidential ballot papers.
In a landmark ruling, the Appellate Court also rejected NASA’s claims President Uhuru Kenyatta had influenced the contract to Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing Company.
NASA had gone to court to stop the printing of presidential papers, on account that the president had influence in the whole printing process.
With the hurdle now out of the way, IEBC plans to hold a credible election come August 8.
