Speaking when he hosted a delegation from the National Construction Authority (NCA) who had paid him a courtesy call on Thursday, County Executive in charge of housing Eng. Nelson Maritim said the status of projects approval is paramount as it would help rot out shoddy works that always lead to the collapse of buildings.

Eng Maritim disclosed that the team that will lead the inspection will include officials from Public works, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) among other relevant bodies.

"The team will be able to come up with reports on how to deal with liable contractors immediately they suspect shoddy work," said the County Executive.

He also expressed the need to come up with an annual assessment plan that will ascertain the status of all buildings in Eldoret town and those in peri-urban centers.

The physical planning section is mandated to carry out projects inspections before issuing out compliance certifications while NCA regulates construction industry, coordinates its development and issues contractor licenses.
