The six supreme court judges; Chief Justice Maraga, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Justices Jackton Ojwang, Smokin Wanjala, Njoki Ndung’u and Isaac Lenaola.

Among the key areas, the court expected to highlight include the legitimacy of the polls, especially after Raila Odinga, Kenyatta’s main rival, withdrew.

The judges will, therefore, be compelled to explain how they reached on their decision, with Odinga not being part of the polls.

Raila’s withdrawal with few days to the polls was seen as a game changer, and many legal experts and Kenyans alike expected the elections to be called off or postponed.

However, elections went on as planned, and the Supreme Court will have a task to explain what the constitution says in a case where one candidate withdraws from an election.

The IEBC postponed and later canceled elections in some parts of the country, and the final results were released without the addition or inclusion of the results.

The judges will also seek to clarify the matter; with the constitution stating that for a presidential election to stand there must be results from all the 290 constituencies.

The court upheld Kenyatta’s victory, giving him a fresh term of five years as the head of the state.
