All eyes will be on Paul Put, as he leads the national team in this year’s Senior Cecafa Challenge Cup this Sunday.
The national team will take on Rwanda’s Amavubi Bees, in the opening match that will kick off at 2 pm at the Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.
It will be Put’s first assignment as the head coach, coming a week after he was handed the reigns at the helm of the team.
The Belgian tactician will have a tough assignment, hoping to win the title at the first asking, with Kenyans desperate to win a major tournament since 2013.
Adel Amrouche led the team then, to their win on home soil and many would be hoping for a similar fate.
His preparations have been hampered by the withdrawal of four players, but they all have been replaced and ready for the tourney.
Kariobangi Sharks’ Masoud Juma will be the star attraction, after a stellar campaign where he scored 17 times in the recently concluded KPL season.
Put has a wealth of talent at his disposal, with the likes of Kepha Aswani and George ‘BlackBerry’ Odhiambo all in his ranks in what will be a fearsome striking force.
