Tala  Member of County Assembly Alex Kamitu together with Upper Manza community self-help group officials have launched a half marathon scheduled for this Saturday aimed at creating awareness on the importance of keeping peace during a repeat of the presidential elections this October.

The half marathon will start at Upper Manza community group offices and end at Katine Polytechnic grounds.

The race is targeting over 100 participants and will also involve a 10km race for Children.

Kamitu who was speaking during the launch of the marathon at Upper Manza offices with officials from Athletics Kenya said that there will be awards for top winners.

"Winners of 21km race for both men and women will pocket a cash award of 30,000 shillings each while winners in the children's race will receive medals and trophies," said Kamitu.

This is the first ever half marathon to be organized by Upper Manza Community self-help group and interested participants have been asked to register for the race.
