All candidates who sat their KCPE exams this year will get admission to form one in 2018.
Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has assured parents of the 100 per cent transition and said all the 1,003,556 will join secondary schools and be the first lot to benefit from the free secondary education programme.
“We have put in place measures to ensure schools accommodate more students so that no child is left out,” Kipsang said while addressing candidates at Kakamega Primary School.
He added that some boarding schools will have to admit students under day programmes so as to accommodate more.
Kipsang said the government is committed to ensuring there are adequate facilities and teachers to increase enrolment.
“Schools will maintain their entry point but will have to increase the number of students enrolled. Schools such as Kakamega High School will have to admit around 5,000 students,” he said.
