Football fans have been forced to persevere for hours en route to Machakos ahead of the CECAFA final due to a heavy traffic snarl-up. According to Standard, residents, and fans from across the nation have already started trooping into Machakos stadium Harambee Stars are locking horns with Zanzibar in the Cecafa final. Fans have expressed concern over the heavy traffic to the county.

Nairobi city governor mike Sonko on Saturday pledged to ferry supporters of the national team to the Stadium for free.

“Free transport to and from Machakos will be provided for the residents who want to go cheer our national team as they play Zanzibar in the Cecafa finals,” said Sonko.

 Earlier, Harambee Stars coach Paul Put has asked Kenyans to fill the stadium in support of the team.

“I hope it will be the same in Machakos. The people turned up in numbers in both counties (Kakamega and Kisumu) and if you have their support, it makes work easier for the boys,” said the Belgian, as quoted by Daily Nation.
