[Photo|Kalonzo Musyoka]Edith Vethi Nyenze has been cleared to vie for the Kitui West Constituency parliamentary by-election.This is after she presented her papers at the IEBC for subsequent clearance ahead of the contest on March 26.The Wiper Democratic Movement nominee presented her papers at the Matinyani IEBC offices on Thursday flanked by her party leader Kalonzo Musyoka alongside other local Wiper leaders.Edith Nyenze, was presented with a by-election certificate as the Wiper Democratic Movement nominee for the upcoming Kitui West by-election, by the Wiper Elections Board Chairperson Agatha Solitei, in an event that was attended by Musyoka and several other leaders.There was celebration at Matinyani Social Hall in she was declared victor in the Kitui West parliamentary by-election Wiper Democratic Movement primaries. Edith who is the wife to the late area MP Francis Nyenze trounced Maluki Kitili son to immediate Kitui Woman Representative, Nyiva Mwendwa, to secure the party's ticket ahead of the by-election slated for March 26.Edith garnered 13,388 votes while Kitili got 2,663 votes during the January 16, primaries.Nyenze, a former National Assembly Minority Leader died while being treated at a Nairobi hospital on December 6, 2017.His wife is perceived as his best replacement.During the presentation of the certificate on January 20, Musyoka revealed that Kitili had agreed to support the widow."Thank You Mr. Maluki Kitili for being a worthy competitor and promising to work with Mrs Nyenze to deliver this seat to Wiper Movement," Kalonzo said.
