Everything is set to start a probe on National Super Alliance (NASA) flag-bearer Raila Odinga over his recent remarks at a Kajiado County rally last week.
This is according to Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery.
“Having come from Kajiado Central, I made sure as the then-member of Parliament that people live harmoniously.
“Utterances by somebody who is seeking to be the president of this country are unfortunate and amount to incitement," Nkaissery said.
“We are waiting for instructions from National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) because the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) will investigate and DPP will prosecute.”
Speaking during the 89th annual inspection parade ceremony for St John Ambulance at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nkaissery also threatened to sue the opposition coalition for linking him to Jubilee's political strategy meetings as being “part of the Mt Kenya Foundation”.
He was seconded by Garissa Township MP Aden Duale who claimed that the remarks were likely to stir hatred in Kajiado.
He demanded that Odinga apologises.
“I can confess here that, in 2007, ODM party, of which I was a member, used the same hatred techniques through ‘41 tribes against one’. And we saw what happened,” Duale said.
However, NASA campaign team member and Siaya Senator James Orengo has dared the government to arrest Raila.
Speaking at Asumbi Catholic Church in Homa Bay County, Orengo said Kenyans were ready to move with Raila to wherever the government took him.
“All Kenyans are ready to move with Mr Odinga to prison. Let Uhuru know that there shall be no election in August if he arrests Mr Odinga,” Orengo said.
