All is set for the highly anticipated presidential candidates debate, today (Monday), just 14 days to the polls date.All the eight presidential candidates, Abduba Dida (Alliance for Real Change); Independent candidates Joseph Nyagah, Michael Wainaina and Japheth Kavinga; Cyrus Jirongo (United Democratic Party), Ekuru Aukot (Thirdway Alliance), President Uhuru Kenyatta (Jubilee Party), and Raila Odinga (Nasa), are expected to participate.The first session of the debate excluding Raila and Uhuru, is expected to start at 5:30 pm, while the second session involving the two top rivals, is schedule to start at 8 pm.However, on Sunday, Nasa, declined to confirm, if its presidential candidate would participate in the debate at Nairobi's Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).Nasa co-principal Moses Wetangula, on behalf of his colleagues, said: "We as a coalition, we have a position in the debate, and we will cross that bridge when we reach there." Jubilee Party had also said Uhuru would not attend the presidential debate. He is however on pressure to participate.At the same time, reports indicate that Abduba Dida, will not participate, citing lack of inequality in the debate.
Former 2013 presidential candidate, James Ole Kiyiapi has already confirmed attendance."Will be heading shortly to the Presidential Debate Venue - hope all candidates will show up to elaborate their manifestoes to the country!" he said on Twitter.
