Traders who have put up structures on drainage systems have been put on the spot.
Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday in his office, County Secretary Patrick Lumumba asked all traders to remove the structures saying they were imposing danger to the public.
"The drainages should be free from obstruction to avoid causing mayhem during the rainy season," he said.
"We experience high rains which lead to flooding but mean business owners block the systems not considering other residents depend on these drainage for a safe rainy season," he added.
According to him, the county government started unblocking the drainages in town before the rains commenced but traders ignored the call to vacate.
Yesterday some traders opposed the calls by the county as others supported it.
"Its time the structures are demolished because we will suffer when the rains kick off. The move to demolish all structures on drainages is positive," said Maureen Chuma who resides in Jogoo area.
"The county wants us to move but it is not offering an alternative place where we should go to," Faith Kerubo a trader at Nyanchwa said.
