The Woman Rep says that Governor Roba needs adequate security after the Wednesday attack on his convoy.
Speaking in Mandera Town on Wednesday, Mahbub urged the government to hunt-down suspected Al-Shabab militants believed to have planned and instigated the attack that saw five policemen killed in the attack.
“The Inspector General of Police should urgently allocate more security detail to governor Ali Roba to ensure his safety,” she said as quoted by the People Daily.
The Woman Rep claimed that the attack on Roba’s convoy must have been thoroughly planned by the perpetrators.
She said that it is not the first time Governor Roba is being attacked. “We are all concerned because this is not the first time the governor is being attacked in a similar way,” she said.
The Woman rep appealed to security agencies to boost surveillance and smoke out terror sympathizers in the larger Northern region.
On Wednesday, Governor Roba ‘cheated’ death by a whisker after a vehicle in his convoy run over an Improvised Electronic Device (IED) killing five police men.
North Eastern Regional Coordinator Mohamud Saleh says that Governor Roba was traveling to Lafey from Arabia when the attack occurred.
Political leaders have sine urged the government to increase surveillance and guarantee security in the region.
Cases of suspected terror acts have been reported in the North region especially Garissa and Mandera in the recent days.
Police are urging locals to be vigilant and report suspicious people to security agencies.
