Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi has asked the county government to allocate more funds to development projects in the 2015-2016 budget.

Speaking in Kiambu Town on Monday, Wamatangi said that the funds should enable residents get services. He added that the county gets good funding from the government which should be used to promote development and bring services closer to the people.

“As the financial year ends, I ask the Kiambu government to plan well and allocate more money to the development," he said.

Wamatangi also asked the county government to focus on key development areas that will boost the living standards of the people.

He cited roads, health, youth and women empowerment as areas that need adequate funding. 

Wamatangi also advised the county government to involve the public in its final budget preparations. He said the public has a constitutional right to be engaged in all budget process.

He at the same time raised concerns after parliament slashed the senate budget by Sh1 billion.

The senator warned that some of the senate activities could be paralysed with inadequate funding.
