Kisumu County voice spokesperson, Audi Ogada, has challenged the county education executive to allocate more funds to special education institutions in the area.
Addressing journalists on Friday at Kisumu huduma centre Oganda said that there is need to boost special needs education in the county.
"Special needs children are vulnerable in our society we therefore need to help them so that they can get quality education,” notes Oganda.
“Let’s improve the special needs education sector by ensuring that the county has well equipped training centres and ensuring that their teachers are trained on how to handle them,” said Oganda.
Human rights activist, Kilen Omondi, also challenged education Cec Jennifer Kere to improve the sector by building more special needs education centre’s and sensitizing locals on the benefits of taking such children to schools.
Omondi emphasized that the special needs children need not to be left behind.
“We need to build more schools which will look at the needs of special needs children. Some of this children have special gifts which need to be nurtured,” said Omondi.
