Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has told opposition Chief Raila Odinga to allow Kenyans resume their normal lives after Thursday’s repeat election.Balala who addressed journalists in Mombasa on Saturday said provisional results for the election show President Uhuru Kenyatta will win the repeat election that saw violent clashes in various parts of the country.“Violence won’t take Kenya forward,” Balala said.“Let’s move on. We have started well by building our nation, but now this bad politics is going to destroy us and we must all stand up and be counted by stopping this politics of destruction, politics of anarchy and politics of instability. And I think politics of dishonesty is what we are suffering from,” he added.Raila on Wednesday announced NASA had transformed into a National Resistance Movement, an outfit he said will agitate for further democratization of the country.A section of Kenyans has interpreted the transformation as the formation of an armed militia that may be used to attempt to overthrow President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime.
Raila has however dismissed the claims saying his new outfit will be non-violent, and will “embark on a national campaign of defiance of illegitimate governmental authority and non-cooperation with all its organs”.
The repeat election was called by the Supreme Court following the nullification of Uhuru’s re-election on August 8.
