Speaking to HiviSasa.com on Tuesday on phone from Ogembo, Ms Valentine Bosibori, who is also chairperson of Albinism Society in Kisii County, said most school heads from the region expelled girls who find themselves in the stalemate.

She said expulsion was not a solution to the rising trends of early pregnancies in institutions since most of the girls opted to drop out after giving birth, fearing possible humiliation.

“I would like to urge the Ministry of Education to forbid heads from expelling girls who gets early pregnancies. The trend is affecting negatively girls' education in the region since most of them refuse to be readmitted having been expelled,” she said.

“I am not encouraging girls to be pregnant but in most cases, it is their teachers who are responsible for pregnancies. Expulsion is never a solution to the predicament, instead, let us encourage those girls by giving them a second chance,” she said.

She further asked the government through TSC to come up with strict rules that will see teachers who impregnate school girls lose their jobs without necessarily going through bureaucracies.

“There is a lot of bureaucracy when trying to interdict teachers who commit such crimes. The government should come up with a more direct punishment,” she said.
