Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria has called on other leaders to give room to Deputy President William Ruto to choose his running mate when the time comes.
Speaking during a church service at PCEA Tabuga on Sunday, the vocal legislator said it was wrong to give the DP conditions on the matter.
“When President Uhuru Kenyatta settled on William Ruto as the running mate for 2013 elections, it was his own choice without conditions. The DP should likewise be given the freedom to choose a person of his choice,” said Gikaria.
The MP was reacting to claims by some politicians who he said had pegged their support for the DP on his choice of running mate.
The function was attended by eight Nakuru MPs who endorsed the DP for the 2022 race.
Gikaria at the same time castigated those calling for a referendum.
He said the creation of new posts to accommodate some people would be a huge burden to Kenyans.
