Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika has appealed to the Members of County Assembly and the current leadership to allow criticism.
“Allow us to be criticized. It is only then that we can be able to know what we are doing wrong and correct it. We should be able to accept the oversight role that our residents are playing,” she cited.
Kihika was speaking during a meeting with the Nakuru Analyst, a group of experts who monitor the county government through WhatsApp, where she cited that the criticism would help them stay on top of their game.
“The fact that the analyst went to benchmark in other counties and showed us positive approaches on how things can be done is encouraging. We need to accept as a county when we are wrong. The proper use of social media to analyze the county should enable us weigh ourselves and change,” she noted.
Kihika cited that the residents were demanding for answers from the leadership.
“If looked into, the groups that is openly condemning us is helping us improve even in the policies and decision making of the assembly. We are now able to tackle some of the issues affecting the county that were raised in social media,” she added.
