Somali based militants Alshabaab have released a video of a missing Kenyan soldier believed to have been kidnapped over a year ago in the war tone nation.

In 2016 January, the militants ambushed Kenyan soldiers working under AMISON and killed dozens in El Adde camp.

And on Thursday, a footage circulating online showed the under siege Kenyan soldier making a passionate appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta to secure his freedom.

“My name is Senior Private Alfred Kilasi, born in Western Kenya. I was attached to Moi barracks. We were attacked by Alshabaab last year and a number of my colleagues died.

“Those of us who survived were kidnapped by Alshabaab and have been in captivity for over a year. Since then, the government has gone mum,” Kilasi says in the video.

He adds: “I am appealing to Kenyans to help us. I am urging Kenyan leaders to come out and help us. Our families are being stressed. Our President to come out and help us.”

Kenya deployed her military to Somalia in 2011 in a move aimed at flushing the militants out of their hideouts following periodical terrorism attacks within the country.

Although the Defense Headquarters is yet to release the exact number of casualties, it is estimated that over 100 soldiers lost their lives.

Hivisasa.com cannot however independently verify the authenticity of the video even though the purportedly Kenyan soldier is seen in Kenyan military uniforms.
