Amagoro Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church is unique in the sense that hundreds of Christians who are members of the Church still attend prayers under a tree.

The sub-parish has had ups and downs with the initial Church albeit semi-permanent which was next to St Thomas Amagoro Girls Secondary School forced to close shop since the land did not belong to the Church.

Undeterred by the move, Christians contributed money and purchased four plots near FAO dispensary in 2015 where they have continued praying under a tree but in prayers that they will be happy to see the Church built through the help of well-wishers.

"We are still optimistic that the church will stand on this holy ground. Even without outside help, we shall continue contributing towards realizing our dreams of a permanent church whatever the number of years it will take," Christians said.

On Saturday Christians braved heavy rains to attend the wedding of a choir member James Omunyin who wedded Linet Ilur in the ceremony presided over by Kocholya Parish priest Fr Peter Makokha.

It was the first wedding in the sub-parish with both the wedding, reception and photo shooting done at the church compound which only boasts of a store.

Four sacraments were witnessed for the bride who was enjoined into the Catholic family. They included repentance, baptism, wedding and receiving of the sacrament.
