Speaking on Tuesday in Kawangware, Nairobi, the former Deputy Prime Minster said that Uhuru amended the Constitution which he swore to defend to manipulate the management of political parties and promote bad governance.

"For all practical purposes, the Jubilee Party formation is motivated and driven by nostalgia for the single-party system," Mudavadi told a gathering.

He accused the government of abetting corruption, tribalism and poor governance which he attributed to selfish interests that lead to the mutilation of the Constitution.

According to Mudavadi, the 12 parties which have agreed to dissolve and join Jubilee Party should be left to operate independently as a way of widening the democratic space as well as promote pluralism.

The former Sabatia MP also questioned the process that was used to register the Uhuru-led Jubilee Party and challenged him to present the registration papers.
