Residents of Amariba village in Kisii county have been urged not to sell their land.
Speaking in a Baraza, the assistant chief of Boronyi sub-location Naftal Ntabo said that it has come to his attention that most residents in the Amariba prefer getting money faster.
And one such way is selling land instead of working on the same pieces of land to generate income.
He added that there is no genuine reason as to why one should sell a piece of land and yet he has a family which depends on the land for survival.
Ntabo also cautioned those individuals who raise chaos in their families when their wives and other family members resist becoming their signatories in the process of selling land.
Instead, he said that men should be responsible for taking care of the land so as their children can benefit from it in the future.
The issue of selling land raised concerns after many cases were brought to the assistant chief, with complaints of some of the family members wanting to sell land.
The assistant chief also sensitised the members, of the importance of preserving their land against pests and other crop diseases.
