Rwanda's Amavubi Stars have pledged to bag this seasons Cecafa senior challenge tourney to be hosted in Kenya beginning December 3.
The Central African nation is set to jet in the country on Friday for their opening Group A match against Harambee Stars on Sunday at the Kenyatta Stadium Machakos and head coach Anthony Hey has underscored the importance of the match saying it would provide the much-needed impetus for the next fixtures.
"We need to put the past behind us and focus on the future. We're looking forward to doing better than we did in the last campaign. Our opening match is against the host nation Kenya but I believe we should get the results", Hey told Rwandese newspaper, New Times.
Hey whose stint with Harambee Stars in 2009, was marred in controversies after he dropped the then Stars captain Dennis Oliech from his plans will be hoping to rekindle the 1999 Cecafa memories when Rwanda thumped Stars 3-1 to win the tourney.
Other teams in Group A include Tanzania, Libya and Zanzibar.
