An ambulance driver died on the spot and three medics seriously injured after their vehicle hit a land mine on their way to pick a patient in Garissa Town, Monday night.

The incident occurred at Owane, between Hulugho and Sangaili.

Garissa County Communications boss Yusuf Korow said those wounded include a co-driver, a health nutritionist and a student who were admitted to the Hulugho Sub-County Hospital.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The attack comes hours after five police officers were killed and four others wounded in a Mandera bus attack.
