Machakos town ambulance drivers on Thursday parked the emergency vehicles following unpaid allowances agreed upon with the county government.
Speaking to Steve Mutunga one of the ambulance drivers on Thursday in Machakos town, he stated some of the dues were since July 2015.
"Last year as we signed our contracts, they included the risk and overtime allowances among others but up-to-date there have been no payments at all," said Mutunga.
Several drivers further complained that the ambulance maintenance and conditions are poor which can cause accidents.
"The wheels have gotten worn out and when we get calls from the villages where roads are rough it gets risky as we are prone to accidents," he added.
The public health officials in Machakos county have however remained quiet about the strike so far.
Machakos county Governor Dr Alfred Mutua in 2014 launched numerous ambulances to operate in Machakos county as a part of the comprehensive health projects.
However, many complains have been raised by residents including unavailability of the vehicles when the residents call upon them.
