Nyanza politicians; Gem legislator Jakoyo Midiwo, Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Kisumu deputy Governor and sister to ODM chief, Ruth Odinga said Burge’s claims were just an excuse to abandon the Yala based rice and fish farms.

Burge, an American investor had claimed that he was being harassed by politicians connected to Raila Odinga after he declined to aid ODM financially.

In a letter to IG Joseph Boinett, Burge also noted that he had received threats from politicians associated with the Orange party. He requested for more security from the government.

Reacting to Burges’ claims, the Siaya County leaders defended their party leader over allegations that he had turned the back on the American investor after he declined to fund his party, ODM.

According to The Standard, the leaders further claimed that Burge’s Dominion project was on the brink due to mismanagement and evasion of workforce dues.

“This man is very dishonest. In fact I suspected he was not sincere from the first day he set foot in Siaya.  He is now throwing tantrums because his tricks and wayward ways of doing business have been discovered,” said Midiwo as quoted by Standard.

Burges is said to have signed an MOU with former county councils of Siaya and Bondo that he would undertake several infrastructural activities within the area a pledge that the leaders now say was not honoured.
