Kiraitu who was speaking at a Methodist Church in Igembe North on Sunday rubbished Meru Governor Peter Munya, who has declared his interest in the top job in 2022. Kiraitu told off Munya saying that he can't win the presidency by just relying on the Ameru vote.

"Munya should visit other counties and solicit for votes if he really wants to be president in 2022, Meru alone cannot guarantee him the seat," said Kiraitu.

Kiraitu hit back at Munya, saying that he is using the 2022 campaign for the presidency as a plot to seek re-election in the 2017 polls.

The Senator reaffirmed his bid to seek for Meru gubernatorial seat in the next general election.

The two leaders have been at loggerheads since Kiraitu declared his ambition to run for the governor's seat. Kiraitu has on a number of occasions accused the Governor of incompetence as Munya fought against the move to dissolve parties allied to the Jubilee Coalition to form a single party.
