Foreign affairs cabinet secretary and cabinet Nominee to Education Ministry, Amina Mohammed is expected to assume office on Monday with her first task being appointment of Vice Chancellors to 10 public Universities in he country.

Outgoing CS Dr Fred Matiang'i is expected to hand over the tomorrow which has alot of pending issues among them new curriculum implementation.

The Universities had given charters in 2016 and Vice chancellors interviews completed in August last year but due to high political temperatures and the general election, the appointment was pushed to a later date.

The head of Public services Joseph Kinyua has approved names of successful applicants with most of those in acting capacity likely to be approved.

However Universities like Moi University which have pending queries will take a longer time to get a substantive VC. Prof Laban Ayiro who was appointed as acting VC for the university has had his term extended on numerous occasions following the retirement of Prof Richard Mibey.

Other Universities that do not a Vice Chancellor include Kenyatta University, Rongo University, Co-operative University of Kenya, Taita Taveta University, University of Embu, Technical University of Mombasa, Kirinyaga, Machakos and Muranga Universities.
