The Tokyo International Conference in African Development (TICAD) Ministerial meeting was held at Maputo, Mozambique. The meeting was attended by Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, from the Japanese Government. Ambassador Amina C. Mohamed Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, who was leading the Kenyan Delegation, also attended to the same meeting.
Ambassador Amina had a foreign ministerial bilateral meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Mr. Kono. The Foreign Ministers expressed their satisfaction at the long-standing cordial and friendly bilateral relations existing between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen these relations. The Ministerial Meeting in Maputo saw a significant number of Foreign Ministers and other Ministers of the countries in African continent in attendance. In August 2016, Ambassador Amina was particularly instrumental in successful hosting of TICAD VI, which was held at Nairobi in Kenya for the first time in Africa under the excellent leadership of President H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta. Kenya is currently the largest recipient country in Africa of Japanese cooperation and investment.
