Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has termed her lose in African Union Commission's chairperson seat 'painful' adding that she has since moved on.
Amina further hailed Kenyan people 'special' for 'standing' with her during the most difficult experience in her life.
The experienced Kenyan ambassador lost to Chad's Moussa Mahamat in round eight of voting after 15 Anglophone countries abstained from voting.
"It was one of my difficult experience which turned to be painful beyond my imagination. I tried my best to do what I can but unfortunately they carried the day," she said.
"The Kenyan delegation stood with me among other African countries. However, we union must remain and we have to move one," added Ms. Amina.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto used million's of taxpayers money in shuttle diplomacy to rally behind her, a move that angered many Kenyans on social media.
The African Union Commission is a powerful organ of African states which makes decisions on behalf of the continent.
