Two Kenyans Eliud Kopchoge and Vivian Cheruiyot made the nation proud on Sunday after taking top positions in the men and women London marathon respectively.
Cheruiyot impressed with a surprise win given that she was transitioning from the tracks to road racing and managed to beat the favorites: Kenyan's Mary Keitany and Ethiopia's Tiruneshi Dibaba.
Kipchoge on his part won the London Marathon for the third time.
However, many athletics fans have been asking how much money did the two athletes manage to take home after conquering London.
For crossing the line first Kipchoge and Cheruiyot pocketed $55,000 and an equivalent of Sh5.5 million, together with a bonus Sh7.5 million for running under 2 hours, 20 minutes, moreover, Kipchoge also got a bonus of Sh10 million for running under 2:05:00, because he won the race in 2:04:16.
Cheruiyot won the women's contest in a time of 2hrs 18min 31sec.
