Over Sh4 million was collected during the Saturday’s 10 kilometers Mater Heart Run that was held in Eldoret town, one of the 9 stations that hosted the annual event across the country.

Speaking after the event, Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago said the funds will go a long way to touching many children’s hearts.

“Here in Uasin Gishu we have raised Sh4 million that will go a long way to assisting those children who are suffering from heart complications so that they can undergo surgery,” said Mandago.

The governor who was nominated as the Mater Heart Run ambassador further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the race.

“We are going to continue supporting this initiative. It is a noble course,” he said.

Mandago further challenged parents to cultivate the culture of help among their children by encouraging them to take part in such future events.

“Parents should be on the forefront to get involved in such events. Let us support ou children to run for charity and the need to help others,” he added.
