Amref Africa has decried that the biggest challenge in containing the Cholera outbreak in Mandera is the shortage of skilled personnel with knowledge in management and control of the epidemic.
Making the announcement via its official Facebook account on Tuesday, the humanitarian medical care service provider noted that the situation could escalate further if an urgent measure is not devised to revert the menace.
"One of the biggest challenges in controlling the cholera situation in Mandera and other affected counties is inadequate control and management of the outbreak. Health workers are not sufficiently skilled in proper cholera case management which could escalate the situation," read their post.
The current battle to contain the Cholera outbreak has dealt a blow to the medical team as some of the medical experts summoned from the area were immobilized by Chikungunya virus that has since invaded them. However, another team led by the Kenya Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières are already on the ground working out to contain the disease outbreak.
