Worry is defined as being overly anxious about something. The true punishment that man received after the fall is not to toil hard for his food but to worry more about his future. From time immemorial, human beings, unlike animals, are always concerned about tomorrow as we tend to be futuristic. We worry more about what we will have tomorrow than if we will be there tomorrow.
At the risk of our health we create wealth yet at the expense of our wealth we treat our health. There will always be a tomorrow but there will never be another day like today. Once it's gone its gone, it becomes yesterday. Why do we live regretting yesterday, worrying about tomorrow and neglecting today?
The key reason for worry is want. Wants are the things the external forces make us believe we need to be happy. They are mostly unreachable when you think you need them and insatiable when you actually have them. The funny thing about our want is that it’s based on what other people have and not what we truly desire.
There the race to keep up with the Jonasses begins where no winner has ever emerged. This rat race overtakes us draining all our energy on worry and fear of whether we will ever cross the finishing line. As you can tell, you never and frustrations kicks in after you realize you will not win. With all the knowledge that we acquire, instead of questioning the race, we question ourselves and cast doubt on our own abilities.
A wise person once said go slowly and enjoy the scenery or go fast and be part of the scenery. Worry drives us to be part of the scenery rather than enjoy the scenery as we sprint trying to overtake the day resulting in us crushing.
Today has given you what you need by granting you good health. Health is what you need to create that wealth economically, socially and spiritually. Go ahead and do your best at work, create time for your friends and family and get to know God more.
