Political analyst Ngunjiri Wambugu has warned that a Memorandum of Understanding allegedly signed between Opposition parties ODM and Wiper in the run up to the 2013 general elections could lead to a major fallout in NASA where the two parties are coalition partners.
According to the MoU, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was to back ODM party's Raila Odinga for presidency in 2013, before the latter reciprocates the support during the August polls after serving one term as president.
ODM Party has since trashed the MoU, claiming that it was not legally registered.
In an opinion editorial published with the Star on Monday, Wambugu claims that failure by ODM to implement the MoU could throw Opposition alliance NASA into disarray.
"One of the things that will haunt ODM forever is the MoU that was signed in Cord in 2013," Wambugu quips.
"Kalonzo and Wiper have very effectively forced NASA into a corner. ODM will have to accept that they had an agreement with Wiper, or Wiper will walk away from NASA as the wronged party," he added.A section of Wiper leaders led by Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze have already called for the implementation of the MoU, threatening to quit NASA if the coalition fails to make Kalonzo presidential flag bearer.
