Political analyst George Kithi now says that the nation has just landed into another campaign period, courtesy of the ongoing exchange between opposition leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.

The encounter was kicked off by the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader who during an Eid Ul Fitr baraza in Mombasa accused the DP of raising political temperatures in the country by embarking on campaigns, four years to the 2022 general elections.

According to Kithi, Odinga's supposed concerns about service delivery to Kenyans is a plot aimed at galvanizing support for his 5th presidential bid, with Ruto also campaigning under the disguise of development.

''Raila is galvanizing for 2022 and should not be expected to excuse himself from the race. Ruto will also keep campaigning. This is the trajectory of the 2022 presidential election campaign,'' he said.

He noted that only President Uhuru Kenyatta can now save the nation from the two leaders, with the situation likely to worsen.

Kithi said  Uhuru is the best person to engage the two out of the hostility without giving the impression of being one-sided.

''It is only Uhuru who can now restore calm and press the two down,'' he added.
