Political analyst Dismas Mokua has said that Deputy President William Ruto might not be as confident and calm as he purports to be.
This follows a revelation by Ruto’s close ally, Elgeyo Mrakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of an ongoing plan to break the ruling Jubilee Party in a bid to curtail Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Speaking on Radio Citizen Tuesday morning, Mokua said that despite appearing calm, Ruto is most likely the force behind Murkomen’s claims and is uncomfortable with the latest political happenings.
He said that otherwise, the DP could have by now emerged to refute Murkomen’s claims, but his silence is proof that he agrees with the claims that some forces allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta are out to paralyze his candidature.
‘’Kama Ruto hangekuwa anakubaliana na Murkomen angekua ashakanusha yale madai (were he not in agreement with Murkomen he would have by now refuted the claims),’’ he said.
‘’Murkomen anatambulika kama mmoja wa viongozi walio karibu sana na Ruto na pia kama msemaji wake na inawezekana alikuwa anamwakilisha (Murkomen is very close to Ruto and is deemed one of his mouthpieces. He is most likely representing Ruto’s stand),’’ he added.
In an interview on Citizen TV Monday evening, the Senate Majority boss further revealed that the anti-Ruto forces are also behind the ongoing lifestyle audit debate, in an attempt to soil his name before both the President and Kenyans.
Ruto is however yet to comment on the claims.
