Political analyst Gideon Mamboleo believes a combination of Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka as the opposition flag bearers will give Jubilee coalition a headache during the 2017 polls.

In an interview with this writer on Saturday, Mamboleo said Jubilee strongholds would experience lower voter turnout since they will not have Raila Odinga who he said people fear him as a 'communist'.

“My assessment is that Jubilee strongholds will experience a low voter turnout since most of them come out to vote against Odinga. If Cord goes for Musalia and Kalonzo, this could be a game changer and perhaps a winning formula,” said Mamboleo.

"Most people especially from central who are capitalistic oriented view Odinga as a communist and fear his presidency. Therefore, his absence in the ballot would result to low voter turnout in Jubilee strongholds and subsequent Jubilee defeat," he added.

The analyst further added that Mudavadi's politics of moderation would appeal to more people and hence come out and vote for a neutral leader.

“Musalia is politically moderate and this would woo more voters to vote for the opposition in what could be the end of Jubilee regime. I am sure that formula would give the ruling coalition sleepless nights,” he said.

The opposition Cord is understandably in the final stages of finding the candidate who would battle it out with Jubilee’s President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 polls.
