Speaking on Radio Jambo on Monday evening, Manyora revealed that the DP will have it hard ascending to the top seat after the newfound unity between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga, terming it as a setback to his candidature.

He said that the two have thrown his initially almost assured bid into limbo, giving room for new realignments which has consequently weakened and frustrated him, hence the unrest in the DP's quarters and the sudden political fear among his cronies.

''Ruto's journey to the top seat was almost assured and he was automatically headed for the seat in 2022. However, the handshake has spoiled his joy, making the ground level again and opening the field for other players,'' said Manyora.

''Ruto was caught flatfooted and never saw the sudden huddle coming his way and has been forced back to the drawing table, hence the political noise coming from his allies who are not happy with the worsening situation,'' said Manyora.

A section of Ruto's lieutenants have since raised their concerns, questioning Odinga's motive in the truce and accusing him of using it to promote his 2022 presidential bid, claims that the former Premier's quarters has rubbished, maintaining that he is not interested in the forthcoming contest.
