Political analyst Bobby Mkangi has reiterated that Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohamed's candidature for the post of the African Union Commission's chairperson was not a national project.

Speaking during an interview on Radio Maisha on Sunday evening, Mkangi further added that Amina's endorsement was perceived as a Jubilee government project, creating a perception that she was only set to benefit the Jubilee administration.

"The endorsement of Ambassador Amina Mohamed looked more of the Jubilee government's project rather than a national project. It created a perception that her election to the AU top post was only meant to benefit Jubilee alone," said Mkangi.

Mkangi further believed that the opposition had not done enough to campaign for Amina.

According to him, the opposition had great leaders who could have been instrumental in campaigning for Amina.

"The opposition did not do enough to have Amina elected as the AU chairperson. The opposition has several great leaders who have a say in Africa and they would have been instrumental in the election of Amina," added Mkangi.

However, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang' disputed Mkangi's claims saying that the opposition had not been equipped with campaign money to do so.
