Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi have not been in good terms for a while and have even publicly attacked one another.

And now political analyst Samuel Salat says Moi is a tool the opposition has unleashed to tame Ruto’s popularity in the Rift Valley which seems to be working.

“Kanu has always inclined to the opposition when it comes to the IEBC stalemate contrary to everyone’s expectation. Rift Valley is a Jubilee stronghold and home to Deputy President and we would not be expecting to see such a revolt back home,” he says.

He says Cord is using the Baringo Senator to tame Ruto’s popularity, a common tactic the leaders are now using to gain political mileage which Jubilee has also been using.

“We did not expect Gideon Moi to incline to the opposition and he has been openly attacking the Deputy President with the likes of (Kanu secretary general Nick) Salat his key members dinning with the opposition. Gideon is in on a mission to tame Ruto’s popularity for he commands respect in the region. Above that he is ‘Moi’.” he says.

He advises Ruto not to neglect this ‘small’ headache for it may be his downfall.

“He should be very careful not to neglect Moi. He may see his downfall for having to fight to attain votes from your strong holds rather than other regions can be a letdown.”
