Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has been poised to be Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi’s 2022 successor.According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Jumwa is the likely candidate to be the next Kilifi governor.Ngure argued that Jumwa has the political stamina to contest and win the Kilifi governor seat when Kingi’s second term expires. In an interview on Tuesday, the analyst noted that Jumwa’s hard stand on issues and her loyalty to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will be an automatic ticket for her in the Kilifi governor race come 2022, should she declare interest in the seat.He said that Jumwa is a defender of ODM party leader Raila Odinga noting that she could even rise to become the next Coast political kingpin after Governor Joho and Kingi.“Aisha Jumwa has the political stamina and she is the automatic candidate who will succeed Governor Amason Kingi once his term comes to an end in 2022,” he said. The analyst termed Jumwa as a strategist and a silent political schemer who cannot be underrated.Governor Kingi’s second term will end in 2022. However, he has not hinted on who he prefers as his successor.Jumwa won the Malindi parliamentary seat in the August 8 polls after serving as Kilifi Women Representative for one term.Though Jumwa has not yet declared interest in succeeding Kingi, analysts say that it’s automatic that she will contest for the governor seat in 2022.The ODM MP is among Coast politicians who are considered as Raila’s close allies. On Sunday during the Coast consultative meeting on people’s assembly chaired by NASA leader Raila Odinga in Kilifi, Jumwa said that they (Coast residents) are ready to die with Raila. The MP said the Coast region loves Raila more than residents in his Nyanza backyard, adding that they will ensure Raila is sworn in as president. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
