Political analyst Dismas Mokua has termed IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati as the weakest electoral chief in the nation's history.
Speaking on KTN News on Sunday, Mokua who as well termed the current IEBC as the worst, accused Chebukati of failing to use his constitutional powers to streamline and bring sanity into the disputed body, ahead of the approaching presidential repeat polls.
‘’The current IEBC is the weakest and so is its Chairman.Despite being at the helm of the commission, he has failed to use his powers to bring things back on track making the situation look far much worse than it actually is.He has to stand up and use his authority to address the issues being raised by both Jubilee and NASA sides with regards to the October 26 elections,’’ said the commentator.
He maintained that as tough as the situation might seem, Chebukati, in a real sense, has an easy job conducting the elections basing his operations on the Supreme Court ruling.
‘’Chebukati and team only have to follow the directives given by the Supreme Court in its ruling. They have to avoid the illegalities and irregularities pointed out by the judge and the rest will smoothly follow along,’’ he said.
