Political analyst Herman Manyora has cautioned the opposition coalition Nasa to address the issue of fielding joint candidates in their strongholds if they are keen on retaining the seats and maximizing votes.
Speaking during a Talk Show on Citizen TV Sunday,Manyora said it the opposition stood to lose a number of seats aside from witnessing voter apathy should they ignore 'sibling rivalry' that was being witnessed in its blocs where affiliate parties making the coalition had decided to field separate candidates."If NASA does not deal decisively with the rivalry amongst its affiliate members then they are in for a rude shock. If I were Raila I would try to pacify the likes of Joho and Hassan,Oparanya and Khalwale so that one can sacrifice his ambitions for the sake of the party. That is what retired president Moi used to do and that is how he always managed to remain in power ",he said.
Areas in which Nasa coalition has fielded joint gubernatorial candidates include Mombasa, Kakamega and Kwale counties and also a number of parliamentary, senate, women reprenstatives and county assembly positions.
The University of Nairobi don further advised NASA to avoid engaging Jubilee on policy issues and single out particular platforms on which to campaign on." Nasa are yet to give us a platform on which their campaign is centred. They should desist from bashing and confronting Jubilee head on on their electoral agenda. That way they stand a chance,"
