Cord leader Raila Odinga’s tour of the country in search of votes will be fruitless unless he rallies behind supporters to register as voters and take part in next year’s elections, a Kiambu based political analyst has said.

Peter Ngure, an analyst and a political author says that it is time for the Cord leader to convert the huge crowds that attend his rallies into votes if he wants to keep alive his state house dream.

The analyst observes that Raila’s bid for 2017 might not be achieved if he does not rally supporters to register as voters.

“Raila Odinga has an opportunity to rally behind his many supporters to register as voters in readiness for 2017, failure to which he will never step foot in State House,” said the analyst.

Ngure noted that voters in Raila’s strongholds never turn up on voting day.

He said that Raila has to be on the ground and rally supporters to vote.

The analyst also wants Raila to learn from the previous mistakes that has cost him the presidential seat on several occasions.

“The Cord leader has unsuccessfully vied for the top seat three times and time has come for him to sit down and find out what has been preventing him from winning the election,” he added during an interview on Monday.

Raila’s political rallies often attract huge crowds mostly in his strongholds.

The former Prime Minister on Sunday concluded a four-day tour of the Coast region where he wooed supporters to back his 2017 presidential bid.

The Cord leader is expected to tour Bungoma and Kakamega counties in the coming weeks as he gets ready for the 2017 elections.
