Professor Rocha Chimera of Pwani University has said the rivalry between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is beyond politics.
The Coast scholar argues it is evident the two leaders share a past, adding that it appears Joho has a dossier that President Uhuru fears might be exposed."That is why he keeps pushing him to the wall to shut him up," said Chimera, as quoted by The Star.Chimera claimed the Head of State is fueling the narcotics agenda at the Coast with the aim of discrediting Joho as he seeks to retain his seat.He argued that Uhuru might have intensified his onslaught on the Governor to frustrate him before the polls. On Tuesday, Uhuru took a swipe at Joho over the establishment of a dry port in Naivasha, arguing that the county boss is against the port because he fears his drug business will come to an end."You know they are used to smuggling of goods and drugs. They don't want to pay customs fees," said Uhuru. The analyst further argued that Joho’s trip to the United States of America clearly shows that he is not a drug dealer."This is a person who has been elected by the masses. Fighting him is like fighting the electors. It is always advisable to seize the attacks," he said.
