The Amani National Congress (ANC) appointed former Agriculture Cabinet Minister Kipruto Rono Arap Kirwa, as the Deputy Party Leader.
The move by the Musalia Mudavadi-led party to pick Kirwa who served in the Mwai Kibaki government, is a strategy to woo Rift Valley voters, as he drums up massive support for his presidential bid, few weeks after he was named Luhya community political Kingpin and spokesperson.
Kirwa was also the Cherengany MP.
During an ANC party delegates meeting chaired by Mudavadi, the party received various aspirants who defected from different political parties, including Garissa County Women Representative aspirant, Amina Keynan.
''As Hon Kipruto arap Kirwa joins my party ANC I look forward to his seasoned input and to him bringing positive change to the party and by extension the country,'' he said, Tuesday.
