Amani National Congress has come out to deny claims indicating that the outfit is negotiating with the Cord coalition for a possible alliance.
According to a statement sent to newsrooms by the secretary general Geoffrey Osotsi, ANC is an independent opposition entity with common policies just like Cord.
Osotsi said that sharing a common agenda should not be interpreted as a plan to join forces ahead of the next general election.
"ANC is an independent opposition party that could have commonality on policy matters with Cord but that should not be construed as an agreement," Osotsi said.
He further laid an accusing finger to the ruling Jubilee coalition for using moles in Cord to disorient leader Musalia Mudavadi's presidential ambitions.
"ANC is not desperate to hurriedly join any coalition or seek premature endorsement by any leader. No form of propaganda, political insinuations or political narratives will distract us from implementing our election winning strategy for 2017 elections," added Osotsi.
Earlier reports had indicated that ANC was in talks with the opposition in a bid to field one strong candidate to battle it out with President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.
It was alleged that plans were underway to have Mudavadi and Kalonzo vie on the opposition ticket.
